.Have updated my review now I've tested the capability of this cable. The listing wording on Amazon now seems to give conflicting information - it states 'strictly compliant with USB.ORG' but later on says it wont do USB-PD.hang on - USB-PD is part of that spec!! My view is this cable is a bit of a fraud as it does not support fast charging using USB-PD standards and be MFi certified - which is the only way it could actually achieve USB fast charging of an iPhone 8/ 8Plus or X. I ended up testing the cable as it seemed slower but wanted proof - I've put some photos up showing a comparison between an Apple cable and this ESR one.
Apple cable does fast charge from Anker USB-PD PSU the ESR cable does not. In fairness to ESR this is probably because Apple haven't given MFi approval to anyone's third party cables yet, but this attempt to get to market first and before it's really ready if a big shame on ESR as their products have previously been very good.
I bought 3 of these thinking having bought the ESR brand stuff before - big shame on this product and ESR for trying to get something to market that doesn't do what it was intended for.Previous Review. I've since found out that none of the current USB-C to Lightning cables are MFI certified which probably means they aren't actually fast charging.
